Parsnips, Potatoes and Broad Beans. These Vegetables have a high (GI) which means they have high sugars which shoot your blood sugar levels up faster than the other vegetables. Broccoli is good for skin and has antioxidants for skin clearing.

Fish

I Personally Love Fish but everyone has different tastes. There are 2 types of omega and they are omega 6 and omega 3 (which you probably heard). The good new is omega 3 is good for acne and avoiding breakouts. The bad news is omega 6 is more common in fish foods today. Balance out by having some omega 3 and it will increase your heart health and skin complexion.

Fruits (The Best Ones)

Cherries, Prune, Pears, Grapefruit, Apples, Red Grapes, Apricots and Peach’s are really good tasty fruits which will not cause breakouts to your acne prone skin, are also good for your immune system and part of your 5 a day.

Why?

You may be asking yourself why are these foods better than any other food for my skin. Well the truth is these foods contain vital ingredients that are helpful for skin, tackle acne for the beginning by balancing out your diet. For examples.

If you eat burgers, chocolate bars and regularly drink milk daily. Your body will be going crazy trying to absorb and slow down the high sugars in your system. The bodies way of doing this is by creating insulin, a hormone from the pancreas which it creates into glucose. By doing this the hormones activity makes the skins glands produce more oil which causes breakouts ie Pimples and spots.

New Research has suggested that the foods we eat and love can actually effect our skin and people suffering from acne can get more breakouts of inflammation, visible pimples and irritation to acne prone areas. Everybody has heard of the saying “you are what you eat” but for many years dermatologists, skin specialists and doctors have claimed that the foods you eat will not effect your skin. Firstly, foods that cause acne breakouts.

  1. Sugars. Foods and Drinks that Increase Blood Sugar Levels Rapidly: Pasta, Rice, Cereals, White Bread, Potatoes, Sugary Desserts, Snacks (cookies, Chocolate Bars), Beer and Soft Drinks. It all starts with blood sugar and these foods and drinks cause blood sugar to quickly rise, these are one of the culprits to acne from the beginning appearing on the skin. Consuming these foods result in your body creating insulin to absorb the sudden burst of blood sugar. This may seem normal however Insulin is a hormone and hormones play a big role in acne.
  2. Dare The Dairy. 90% of the population consume dairy on a daily bases especially milk (Teas and Cereals), butter (on toast and in meals) and cheese (Pizza, Pasta and on meals). Most dairy comes from cows milk and cows milk has plenty of hormones used for their young “calf’s”. Humans drink milk because it is very beneficial for growth and life however causes problems with acne sufferers because the hormones in the milk react in the body causing hormonal imbalance. This can cause more inflammation and excess oil build up.
  3. Greasy Foods Oily Foods. Take away, are probably the worst foods to eat because they are full of high blood sugar, bad fats and unhealthy ingredients. Greasy foods like pizza have plenty of dairy from the cheese and contain saturated fats which all will show up on your skin within a day. These are to be avoided if you want clear skin.

These 5 Foods Suggested are good for your skin and will prevent hormonal acne breakouts occurring.

This is not the only cause of hormonal acne I am afraid. Skin is more prone to acne within the teenage years because this is when hormones are at a higher peak due to the growth of the body and its many functions. Acne is very common during this time and adding high GI foods on top will cause inflammation, sore pimples on the face, neck, back, shoulders and chest. Avoiding greasy foods, dairy and sugars will clear up acne quickly and effectively.

However it is not uncommon for teenagers to still  keep acne into there 30s, 40s and 50s. This can be caused by genetics and sensitive skin.

In Conclusion

Hormonal acne is easy to prevent, help and cure when you know how and with this knowledge I wish you the best of luck to stopping your acne breakouts and pimples. Bookmark this page for future reference when skin may breakouts again.

I couldn’t agree with you more about drinking more water. It is supposed to help you keep a good complexion. I know it’s a bit off topic, but drinking more water also helps flush your kidneys of any toxins. I know that from experience!
